The presenter lost his wife a few months ago to leukaemia and his eight-year-old son is in danger.
Edgar Ogutu’s son Kunta Kinte, was diagnosed with Sickle cell anaemia and needs a bone marrow transplant before August 2018. The treatment is supposed to take place in Germany.
In a moving interview with a local media house, Edgar Ogutu narrated his plight leaving many in tears.
“THE DOCTOR ALREADY TOLD ME THAT KINTE MAY NOT LIVE BEYOND HIS 12TH BIRTHDAY. THE SAME THING THAT THE DOCTOR TOLD ME ABOUT MY WIFE. WE HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING AND WE ARE STRUGGLING TO KEEP HIM ALIVE. THE DISEASE IS A TYPE OF CANCER THAT AFFECTS THE BLOOD AND BONE MARROW. THEIR EIGHT-YEAR-OLD SON’S LIFE IS ALSO UNDER THREAT FROM A BLOOD DISORDER,” SAID EDGAR OGUTU.
Edgar is appealing to well wishers to help him raise money for his son’s treatment.
The multitalented presenter revealed that he exhausted his medical cover in getting his wife’s treatment. His family’s house has also been locked due to lack of rent and his children are just relying on good samaritans for shelter.
“SINCE MY WIFE’S BURIAL, KINTE HAS NOT RECEIVED THE REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE. MY CHILDREN ARE NOT AT HOME BECAUSE MY HOUSE WAS LOCKED BY THE LANDLORD,” HE SAID.
“MY SON IS TAKING THE STRONGEST ANTIBIOTICS AND MUST TAKE THESE MEDICINES FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.”
