A suspected Somali militant group’s al Shabab recruiter in Kenya on Thursday morning killed five police officers including a senior officer.

Reports indicate that the man who had been arrested a day earlier grabbed a gun from one of the officers and began shooting inside the Kapenguria police station indiscriminately.

He is accused of recruiting young men from Kapenguria area, about 400 kilomentres west of Nairobi, to join the Somali based militant group.

A special police unit was sent to the police station to subdue the lone gunman.
