Harambe Stars Player Allan Wanga Lands Government Job

Harambee Stars player Allan Wanga is a man to watch this year as he gets a new appointment in government.

The celebrated Kenyan International’s appointment comes as a new year’s gift.

The former Tusker FC player has been appointed the Director of Sports in the County of Kakamega by Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

The Kakamega Governor said that with the appointment, he expects to see more talent tapped from the grassroots, in the county that is known to create great sportsmen in Kenya.

Wanga left Tusker FC as a free agent in the just concluded season, and was headed to Kakamega Homeboyz Football Club for the 2018 season of the Kenyan Premier League.

According to Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula, Allan Wanga has already picked his appointment letter to the position and will also play for Kakamega Homeboyz.

Wanga has received congratulatory messages from his friends on the new appointment.

“Congratulations Allan Wanga on your appointment as the Sports Director in the County of Kakamega. Thank you Gov. @GovWOparanya for supporting Sport and Talent,” Read ODM Party Director of Communication Philip Etale’s tweet.

Wanga who had been with Tusker FC for two seasons has also featured for AFC Leopards and Sofapaka FC in the Kenya Premier League, Azam in Tanzania’s top league and El Merreikh in Sudan.

Wanga is one of Harambee Stars top goal scorers and has also had professional stints in Angola, Azerbaijan and Vietnam.
