Narc Kenya party leader and former Presidential candidate Martha Karua has out rightly declared that she will not support Deputy President William Ruto’s bid for the top job come 2022.
Speaking to NTV’s Larry Madowo, Karua said that she will not support Ruto out of choice, and it was her democratic right to decide how she exercises that power.
“No…it is called a choice in democracy,” said Karua.
Karua added that she threw her support to the candidature of President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP during the August poll due to the fact that it was a ticket.
The Iron Lady of Kenyan politics stated that she only supported the ticket due to President Kenyatta and not his DP.
“My support was basically for President Uhuru and yes, I knew his deputy was William Ruto. In the last election, I supported a ticket which had two people but my main support was to President Kenyatta,” said Karua.
Meanwhile, Karua suffered a setback after the High Court in Kerugoya threw out her petition challenging the election of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.
Karua’s petition was dismissed over a technicality after it was termed as fatally defective, hopeless and incurable by Lady Justice Lucy Gitari.
Justice Gitari said Karua’s omission of the disputed August 8 election results and dates as declared by IEBC was in violation of rights to fair trial.
Karua said shew will appeal.
