Nyamira Girls To Replace Sinyolo At The Nationals

Nyamira Girls will replace regional hockey champions Sinyolo during the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) Term One Games in Kangaru, Embu.

Sinyolo have been invited to France for a six-a-side tournament set for April 6-12. The event will coincide with the national secondary school games that runs from April 8-14 in Embu.
“We have decided to replace Sinyolo with Nyamira Girls who were runners up during regional championships at St. Mary’s School, Yala,” said Nyanza Region Secondary Schools Sports Association Secretary Tom Odhiambo.

Sinyolo coach Alloys Owino said a team of 13 girls, the principal Hellen Juma and chaperon Christine Amayo, will travel to France next week.
“We will play in a six-a-side invitational tournament which will involve other teams from England and France. This tournament will give the girls good exposure,” said Owino. Nyamira will now make their debut at the nationals against favourites Tigoi, Bura Girls and Moi Marsabit.

During the regionals, Sinyolo captained by Beyonce Lyn defeated Nyamira Girls 1-0. Maureen Owiti scored the lone goal during the tough final.
