Former Miss Tanzania Jokate Mwegelo has hit the road running after she was sworn in as the new Kisarawe District Commissioner at a colorful ceremony held a few days ago.
Unable to attend due to a stroke he suffered in 2013, her father was represented by her mother who termed her daughter as the joy of the family.
“For sure Jokate’s father and I are proud of her achievement. Her father is unwell, he is asleep but I have been able to make it as her mum. When we received the good news, we thanked God first and thanked Magufuli as he noticed Jokate’s efforts. Jokate has been a source of joy to the family. Since she started school, she has been very passionate about working with people and caring for the community,’’ she told Millard Ayo TV.
Jokate celebrated the end of World Breastfeeding day with women of Kisarawe yesterday stressing on the importance of breastfeeding.
“Nimefurahi sana kujumuika na wamama na wanajamii wa Wilaya ya Kisarawe katika maadhimisho ya Siku ya Unyonyeshaji Duniani, hapo jana, 07/08/2018. Nawakaribisha sana wote kutembelea Kisarawe, kujua fursa tulizo nazo, pamoja tuijenge Kisarawe Mpya,’’ she posted alongside a video of her visit.
It marks her first official assignment of the former beauty queen since she was sworn in.
“Uongozi wa Serikali kwa ngazi zote mnapaswa kuweka misingi imara na kuhamasisha jamii yetu ili itilie maanani kunyonyesha watoto kikamilifu,’’ she was quoted saying by Jamhuri Media.
Since her appointment, the model wiped clean her slate to start a fresh with all of her previous photos and posts deleted from her social media accounts.
